FAQ

What is the UX/UI design process?
The UX/UI design process is the practice in which a designer analyzes all aspects of creating a good foundational user interface for a final product. Defining qualities your designs should have to create a successful user interface is a critical part of that process. Mapping out your plan of action, data, and research, designing, and testing your prototypes.
What does data-driven research mean in UX Design?
Data-driven research within UX design refers to the analysis of collected information that revolves around an application’s usability testing, user feedback, and surveying. When using data to drive your research you can pinpoint what difficulties your users’ have as they navigate through your application and target those issues directly.
How does data-driven research apply to design strategy?
Data-driven research provides useful insight into how you will direct your design strategy to address issues directly. Using proven data we can also provide evidence for your client as to why your strategy may be targeting certain issues and this method can also be applied beyond UX such as marketing strategy.
What are the UX/UI design principles and how are they used?
Based on Norman’s 7 Principles the UX/UI design principles are:
• Discoverability makes it easier to understand where to perform actions.
• Feedback communicates the response to our actions.
• Conceptual models are a simple explanation of how something works.
• Affordance is the perceived action of an object.
Signifiers tell us exactly where to act.
• Mapping is the relationship between the controls and the effect they have.
• Constraints help restrict the kind of interactions that can take place.
What is the best way to apply UX/UI design principles and practices to your team?
UX/UI design principles are best acknowledged at the start during the ideation stages of an application but are also essential to take into account throughout the entire design process.
What is “scaling design” and how does it translate into UX, graphics, and web design?
Scaling design refers to looking beyond the initial concept and making decisions that are adopted further than intended. Observe where your design systems can be adopted in different platforms and various other approaches. Frequently, design and features will change over time.

The impact will depend on how well we’ve accounted for scalability.

Some foundational features that are good design practices for scalability are using screen frameworks, which lets applications scale to accommodate new features, choosing flexible user interface structures that easily accommodate expanding or contracting sets of features, and designing dynamic components which can ensure a layout that scales properly with content.
What is UX leadership and why is it necessary?
UX leadership is defined as someone who guides the user through the user experience of a product by establishing and sharing a vision across multiple teams. They are aware of the context expanding beyond design, establishing KPIs as related to overall business objectives, mentoring, and championing UX-centric design with a wider business context.
What design trends in UX and UI are upcoming in 2022?
Trends for UX design in 2022 focus on the functionality of your designs and creating engaging designs with features like scrollytelling and 3D elements. UI design trends of 2022 are about enhancing interfaces with visually stimulating components like glass morphism, smooth gradients, and micro-interactions.
What is considered “lean principles” and how do they apply to UX design?
Lean principles consist of collaborative teams, eliminating elements that serve no purpose, and prioritizing learning, just to name a few. These principles emphasize the foundation of your design rather than the outcome. The goal when applying lean principles to UX design is to create a product in limited time and resources with the best user experience possible.
What are some examples of innovative design thinking in UX/UI design in 2022?
An example of an innovative UX implementation recently would be the “view in your room” feature on the Amazon marketplace that allows users to scan their room and virtually place an item in their home visually on their phones. This feature can be categorized as an augmented reality experience, which has just begun to surface as an emerging trend in 2022.
